Pastor

Robbie began his calling as Senior pastor of Pleasant Grove in 2014. He is a native of Gulfport, Mississippi where he retired in 2008 from a lengthy career at United Parcel Service. He was ordained into the gospel ministry in 2011. He is a graduate of Campbellsville University School of Theology where he earned both a B.S. in Pastoral Ministries and a Master of Theology degree.


Robbie and his wife Mary Jo are the parents of Chris, Christle, Clayton, and Kayla; and they are Paw and Me-Me to Savannah, Shyanne, Jude, Fletcher, Sawyer, Lennon, and Hampton. In his spare time, Robbie enjoys spending time with his family, UK basketball, fishing, biking, and model railroading.

Charlene Manley

Worship Leader

Charlene was born in Louisville where she studied business management at Jefferson Community College. She married her husband Don in 1986 and they have two sons.  While serving as worship leader here at Pleasant Grove she also has worked for the past 22 years as the receptionist at a large law office in Louisville.

 

Charlene accepted the Lord as her Savior at the early age of 9 years old. She has served in the music ministry for 30 plus years now. Her desire is to let God use her as His vessel while leading people in worship, and to serve Him till He calls her home to glory.

GENE SMITH

STUDENT MINISTER

Gene began his calling as Student Minister at Pleasant Grove on February 1, 2022. He was born in Louisville and raised here in Shepherdsville. He graduated from Bullitt Central High School in 1994. He then pursued a Bachelor's degree in Marine Science from Coastal Carolina University in Conway, SC, graduating in 1999. After college Gene joined the US Navy. He served 4 1/2 years and returned home. 


Gene then began a job with the USPS, going to school at night to get an Associate's Degree in Medical Technology. Upon graduation Gene made the move to the Robley Rex VAMC in Louisville, KY as a Medical Technologist. During this time Gene was the pastor of a small church plant and attended online classes to earn a certificate in Bi-Vocational Ministry from Clear Creek Baptist Bible College. 


Gene and his wife Tia look forward to seeing the students of the church grow closer to God and one another. They look forward to seeing you at church!
